Pirie Library facilitates several Reading incentive programs throughout the year.

Scholastic Book Fairs
Twice a year, Pirie hosts a book fair in the library. We encourage our students to purchase books to help increase their personal libraries. Our next book fair is from November 28 - December 2, 2011. We will be offering an online book fair as well during this time period which will allow parents to make purchases online with a credit card and have the books shipped directly to the school after the fair.

Pizza Hut Book-It
Each teacher sets up a reading goal for the students. It can be reading a certain number of pages, books or an amount of time. Each month, students who achieve the goal will receive a certificate for a free Personal Pan Pizza from Pizza Hut.

Six Flags Six Hour Reading Club
Students who read a minimum of six hours, as documented by a reading log and parent's signature, will receive a free ticket to Six Flags. Logs for the 2011-2012 school year will go home in early December to give all students plenty of time to read for 6 hours and earn a free ticket.

Chicago Fire Soccer's Scoring Through Education
Teachers set three goals for their classroom. Students will have 6 weeks to reach their classroom goals.
Any student who reaches all three goals receive a special prize from the Chicago Fire.

***In 2010, 157 students achieved their goals and were invited to the Chicago Fire game on May 27th, 2010. Pirie School provided a bus and chaperones to the game against FC Dallas. Students who attended the game also received a free soccer ball from the Chicago Fire Kids Club.
